Our Staff

We have a small staff, just two of us, which hardly qualifies as a “staff.” However, our success lies in working with people to share the workload, allowing Dave and me to focus on finding individuals to help, guiding them through the training and testing processes, and providing insights into why they may have failed. Most importantly, we encourage people to get certified because, today, that’s exactly how you secure a job.

Enhancing your resume with multiple credentials ensures that both INDEED and human recruiters recognize that you have 10 valuable qualifications, whether that includes college degrees, certifications, or work experience. Platforms like INDEED and others look for the keywords on your resume that match the job postings.

Vice President

David Zander is a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer who spent 24 years as the chef on submarines, spending 17 of those years underwater. He attended our class and earned certifications in Food Safety, Master Certified Food Executive, and HACCP.

When he retired from the Navy, he was hoping for a $55,000 job. He submitted an application for a position with a grocery chain that was facing significant food safety issues in its deli and bakery departments. When they saw HACCP on his resume, they hired Dave at $85,000. He went on to manage their stores. Dave has been with the Foodservice Institute for over 10 years.
